Li Qi is a master erhuist whose musical journey started at age seven. After receiving the highest Erhu test score in all of Sichuan province in 1998, she attended the Southwest University in China and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education and Erhu performance. Li followed a host of internationally-renowned Erhu virtuosos including Shu Zhao, Liu Guangyu, Zhao Hanyang, Yan Jiemin, Zhu Jiangbo, and Zhou Wei. Li’s career has encompassed success as a concert soloist, concertmaster, conductor, and a recognized music educator. She founded and served as principal conductor and erhuist in the Chongqing Chinese Folk Music Band from 2002 to 2007, starring in occasions such as Semaine des cultures urbanes Les Pekins de Toulouse and the Singapore Shulang Culture Festival. Her performances were broadcasted by Chongqing People’s Music Radio Station and Central People’s Radio Station. Li was also an Erhu master instructing nearly three hundred students at the Philharmonic Arts Academy and Royal Artistic Academy. In addition to performing and teaching, she served as Director of Performance at the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing and the Executive Manager of Yu Dao Culture Co., Ltd.
Li maintained a prolific artistic schedule after moved to Houston, accepting invitations to perform or speak in lectures from the Chinese Consulate in Houston and the Consul Generals, City of Houston, City of Stafford, the Confucius Institute at Texas A&M University, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Chinese Community Center, Taiwan Benevolent Association of America, Rice Design Alliance, the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, the Institute of Chinese Culture in Houston and many others. Her solos were presented on the stages at the Wortham Center in Houston, the McKinney Center in Dallas, the Rialto Center and Woodruff Center in Atlanta, and the Atlanta Symphony Hall. In 2010, Li won the Professional Adult category Bronze Award at the Chinese Instruments International Competition World Cup, along with special recognition for her outstanding contributions to propagating Chinese folk music in the United States. In January 2013, Li led the new born Fei-Tian (now Eastern Phantasia) Contemporary Eastern Music Group to win the Gold Award in Professional Ensemble category of the 2nd Huayin Cup Chinese Music International Competition.
Ms. Li’s Erhu classes are rendered in a manner of patience and formality, and offer ample varieties to address different expectations. Notably, her classes are distinctive from ordinary musical instrument trainings by featuring ingredients for fun and delightfulness while focusing on the primary study objectives. Her unique teaching methods and well-known outcomes have won enormous applauses.

7岁开始正规、系统的二胡训练。曾师从四川音乐学院舒昭教授,闵惠芬女士关门弟子刘光宇先生,中央音乐学院赵寒阳教授,严洁敏教授,朱江波副教授,著名二胡演奏家周维先生等。1998年以四川省二胡第一名的成绩考入西南大学音乐学院, 主修二胡, 并获得音乐教育学士学位。曾在中法文化年艺术节和新加坡树朗文化节等活动中演出,并在爱乐及皇家艺术学校任教。从事正规二胡教学和演奏十余年,具有丰富的经验。曾组建重庆女子七音新民乐组合,任队长和首席,并担任重庆人民大礼堂演出管理公司演出总监和御道文化传媒有限公司总经理。
移居休斯敦以后依然广泛从事二胡演奏和教学工作以积极推广中华传统音乐文化。多次应邀在休斯敦剧院区,达拉斯麦金尼艺术中心、亚特兰大伍德洛夫艺术中心和市政交响乐厅演出,并受邀在休大摩尔音乐学院讲学。2010年作为唯一一名晋级决赛的中国境外选手获得第三届中国民族器乐世界杯大赛专业成人组的铜奖,同时获得为表彰其在美国推广中国民乐所作突出贡献的特别奖。2013年1月率飞天新民乐组合(现“梦幻飞天”组合)获得第二届华音杯中国音乐国际大赛专业组合类金奖。
李奇老师的教学耐心、正统、因材施教并且寓教于乐, 针对幼儿、青少年和成人,运用不同的教学方法,满足不同年龄学生的需求,以达到各自预期的学习目标,深得学生和家长的喜爱,成效显著并广受好评。
