2012 Fall Semester Open House on Aug 25th
Dear Parents:
A full day open house and orientation will be held at OAEC on August 25 Saturday. All classes will begin as scheduled on the same day and prospective students and parents are welcome to sit in. Orientation will start from 10:00am, all teachers will be available to answer your questions on course descriptions, teaching characteristics, timetable consulting and so on. Teachers, parents and pupils will work together to design the most appropriate training program to ensure the best learning outcomes. You will also learn about the program formats of “Oriental impressions 2012 ", which will be held at UH Cullen Hall on Dec.15th 2012, upcoming rehearsal plans and performance information. You are more than welcome to bring your family members, friends to join us and we are looking forward to see you soon.

Sophy Liu，the leader of OAEC Chinese Culture Dance Delegationwould like to share 2012 Beijing trip and show some photos and power point with you at 4pm 8/25 Saturday. Principal, Ms. Li Xu, will introduce more exciting activities and exchange program as well. All parents and students are welcome to join us to know more detail information for future China Roots TourSummer Camp that your kids may participate in. The student who was participated in 2012 Beijing Camp and their parents are required for attendance. Please bring U drive to load photos for your kids.

2012 Fall Semester Class Schedule Available
Dear Students and Parents,
Hope you all have enjoyed the summer. OAEC Fall Semester is approaching and we welcome you back to our wonderful fall classes!
OAEC fall semester will start on 8/24. The fall schedule is available here. Please pay special attention to our highlights below:
1) In order to strengthen the fundamental ballet training and ensure the quality of our year-end recital, OAEC will offer ballet intensive courses for all age level;
2) The Chinese program -"Ni Hao Ma" and Applied Arts and Design class instructed by Zhuyan were well received by students and parents during the OAEC summer camp. Please sign up these new programs that will be offered in the fall semester;
3) Teacher Xinjian's Drama class, teacher Maoxin's Vocal Performance class, Modeling and Fashion classes, and a variety of musical instrument classes are all open for registration. All the students will participate the annual recital to be held on Dec. 15th, 2012 at University of Houston Cullen Perform Hall. Please register as soon as possible and attend class regularly in order to present a wonderful “Oriental Impression 2012”.

OAEC CHINESE CULTURE AND DANCE DELEGATION TRIP IN BEIJING
End of June, OAEC Chinese culture dance delegation went to Beijing to participate in "China Roots Tour" Dance Features camp hosted by Overseas Chinese Affairs office of State Council. Students visited the Beijing Dance Academy, the well-known Modern Dance Company – LDTX, to feel the avant-garde sense of modern dance in China, is the largest experience. The camp also arranged at the Beijing Chinese Academy study Chinese language, calligraphy, painting, martial arts and other courses. Visit the Great Wall and lots of historical and cultural attractions, Visit the Olympic venues, visit the National Grand Theater, 798 Art District Tour and more. Students make new friends with young people from all around the world. Overseas Chinese Affairs Office State Council Vice Ministers Zhao Yang, particularly feted dance delegation and fully affirmed the contribution made by oriental art education center in the dissemination and promotion of Chinese culture and the arts. He highly praised the enthusiasm of students learning Chinese culture to encourage OAEC students continually working hard to bring China elements to the communities and do the little ambassador of cultural exchanges between East and West.
2012 OAEC Summer Camp I Open House
2012 OAEC Summer Camp I Open House held last Friday, Jun 22 successfully. Dance the classes, the Chinese the classes and theater the classes' short play "little rabbits" and "Small in Tadpole Looking for of Mom" were the most welcome shows. See pictures blow for more details.
OAEC has launched a new Chinese Camp course - " Nihaoma "
“Nihaoma” Chinese educational institutions (Nihaoma LLC.) focus on children's Chinese education, offering children's Chinese language courses in more than 12 well known Private schools throughout Houston, including The Kinkaid School, Fay School, Post Oak School, Schlenker School, and the Memorial Elementary, etc. Summer is approaching, "Nihaoma" will launch a new Chinese Summer Camp curriculum in Oriental Education Center, and classes’ start 6/4.

2012 Chinese Dance Exam Completed Seccessfully
2012 Chinese Dance Exams, sponsored by OAEC and Beijing Dance Academy, completed successfully May 13, 2012.
OAEC performed at 2012 BMTA Piano Festival
On March 31, 2012, OAEC was invited to perform in 2012 BMTA Piano Festival - "Dances Through The Ages" at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, TX. OAEC students Michelle Wan, Alice Kwok, Julia Kwok, Jenny Zhu, Meggie Yang, and senior student Cissy Xiao performed 4 styles of dance: Dai dance "Splash"; Tibetan dance "Kumara"; Sichuan dance – “Pretty Opera Girls”, as well as a classical dance – “Broken Bridge” which just won the Platinum Award in 2012 Dance Showcase Region Competition. Their outstanding performances received high praises from the event organizer - the Brazosport Music Teacher Association.
OAEC energetically performed 4 consecutive sessions for different student audiences at the college. Between the performance sessions, Cissy Xiao also provided introduction about the music, philosophy and expressions in Chinese ethical dances as well as background knowledge of Chinese cultures. OAEC performers demonstrated how to maneuver the Chinese handkerchief and fans, which promoted interesting interactions with the audiences. The whole event is well received and the depth of Chinese culture and arts truly impressed all the audiences.
